The Oldsmobile Cutlass was introduced in 1961 as the top version of the compact F-85 line. The first convertible version was available one year later. The car was powered by a new small 3.5-litre aluminium V8-engine which later became famous as the Rover V8-engine (also used in many Europeen sports cars like Morgan or TVR until recent time).
