1979 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT (C210)

6-cylinder L20E-engine with 2000 cm³ and 130 HP, produced 1977 to 1979. (later C211 facelift-model produced 1979 to 1981)

We found this car at a dealer in Nonthaburi as a one-owner-car from Songkla. This Skyline has the desirable design with double round headlights of the pre-facelift model produced until July 1979. With the later square headlights it lost a lot of its kudos. Also the double round taillights in the style of a Ferrari 400 had much more sex appeal than the normal units of the European-spec Skylines.

The bigger 6-cylinder models of the C210 could be distinguished by their longer front. They were offered as 2000 GT-EL (like our car on the pictures) with 130 hp (L20E) and 2000 GT-EX with 145 hp turbo engine (L20ET). For export Nissan fitted the L24E-engine with 130 hp and sold it as Datsun 240K GT. The smaller 4-cylinder models were offered as 1600 TI (L16T) and 1800 TI (L18T).

Beside the 4-door sedan shown here Nissan also produced a very pretty 2-door coupé of the C210 and a somehow odd 5-door station wagon with (too) small windows between C- and D-pillar.

Not many Skylines had been sold at this time in Thailand and nearly none of them has survived in such a pristine and original condition like this 2000 GT.
